Angel Band

Angel Band

It has been a favorite of mine since I was little. I remember my mom talking about how it was a song that was sung at her grandmother's funeral service when she was a little girl, way back in 1932, and then when Mom's mother, Grandma Laura passed away, Mom and her sisters had the same song at her service. So since I had always loved it and it was becoming a sort of tradition in our family, when Mom lost her cruel battle with lung cancer, I suggested, kind of insisted that it be sung at her funeral service.

So, when I die someday, I would like it to be one of the songs at my funeral service. I love so many songs, I sometimes say I just want a service filled with songs, but I won't even be here to hear them at that point, and I just want to carry on the little tradition to be sure to have this one sang.

Angel Band

1.My latest sun is sinking fast

My race is nearly run

My strongest trials now are past

My triumph hath begun...

chorus:

O' come, angel band

Come and around me stand

Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings

To my immortal home

Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings

To my immortal home...

2. Oh, bear my longing heart to Him

Who bled and died for me

Whose blood now cleanses from all sin

And gives me victory...

chorus:

Oh, come, angel band

Come and around me stand

Oh bear me away on your snow white wings

To my immortal home,

Oh bear my away on your snow white wings

To my immortal home...

3. I've almost gained my heav'nly home

My spirit loudly sings

The holy ones, behold they come!

I hear the sound of wings...

chorus:

O' come, angel band

Come and around me stand

Oh bear me away on your snow white wings

To my immortal home,

Oh bear me away on your snow white wings

To my, immortal home...

Not sure that is the "official" version, I have found a few different versions, but this is the one I like the best, so this is the one I used.
